WASHINGTON, DC – The Corn Refiners Association applauds the nomination of Tom Vilsack to be the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“Governor Vilsack is an exceptional candidate to become the next Secretary of Agriculture,” said Audrae Erickson, president of the Corn Refiners Association. “His proven leadership and first-hand knowledge of the importance of the agricultural economy will serve our country well when he assumes the helm of the Department of Agriculture.”

President-elect Barack Obama nominated Tom Vilsack to be the Secretary of Agriculture. From 1999 to 2007, Mr. Vilsack served as the Governor of Iowa. Members of the Corn Refiners Association have 24 corn wet milling plants, five of which are located in Iowa with another one under construction.
