CORN REFINERS WELCOME STEP TOWARD RESOLUTION OF MEXICO TRUCKING DISPUTE

WASHINGTON, DC – The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) commends the U.S. Department of Transportation on its release of a concept paper to resolve the cross-border trucking dispute with Mexico.

“Important progress has been made in addressing the Mexican trucking issue, which has implications for overall U.S. trade with Mexico,” Audrae Erickson, CRA president stated. “We encourage U.S. and Mexican officials to work quickly to determine a workable solution for both countries and for Congress to support the Administration’s efforts to reach a permanent agreement.”

The U.S. Department of Transportation yesterday released the Phased U.S.-Mexico Cross-Border Long Haul Trucking Proposal. It focuses on safety issues, detailing the process by which Mexican carriers can apply for long-haul operating, and the steps that would be taken to ensure oversight and compliance.
