CORN REFINERS APPLAUD MEXICAN DECISION

Chuck Conner, President of the Corn Refiners Association, today welcomed the decision by the Government of Mexico not to appeal the ruling of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Panel which determined that Mexico violated the WTO Antidumping Agreement by imposing duties on imports of HFCS from the United States.

Mexico's decision not to challenge the Panel's ruling enabled the Dispute Settlement Body in Geneva to immediately adopt the Panel's finding that Mexico violated the WTO Agreement.

Conner stated, "We regard the decision by the Government of Mexico not to appeal as acknowledgment that they did, in fact, violate obligations under the WTO Antidumping Agreement in imposing duties on HFCS from the United States into Mexico."

With today's adoption of the WTO Panel report, Mexico should bring itself into conformity with the Panel's ruling by immediately terminating the antidumping order on HFCS imports from the United States into Mexico.
